In This Together NEPA Statement on
Mail-In Voting Executive Order
In This Together NEPA is raising concerns and encouraging voter awareness following a recent executive action impacting voting and election administration.
Elections in the United States are run by state and local officials, not the federal government. This long-standing system gives communities the ability to administer elections in ways that meet local needs and has earned the trust of voters across the country.
The recent executive action has prompted concern among election experts about potential changes to established voting systems, particularly those that could affect access to mail-in voting. Such changes could create confusion for voters or introduce new barriers to participation.
“Voters in Northeast Pennsylvania deserve clear, transparent elections and easy access to the ballot,” said Beth Gilbert of In This Together NEPA. “Elections are administered at the state and local level, and it is important that voters understand how those systems work. At the same time, any changes that could make voting more complicated or limit access deserve close attention. Our priority is making sure every eligible voter can participate without unnecessary barriers.”
Only U.S. citizens are legally permitted to vote in federal and state elections, and existing safeguards are in place to protect election integrity. A majority of Americans continue to express confidence in mail-in voting as a secure and reliable option.
Across Northeast Pennsylvania, many voters rely on flexible voting options, including mail-in ballots. Ensuring that voters understand their options and can participate without confusion is essential.
In This Together NEPA encourages voters to stay informed, check their registration status, and make a plan to vote.
Our democracy works best when participation is strong, systems are clear, and every eligible voter can make their voice heard.
